Dear Mom-

Got your letter and was very much relieved to hear that you have received the allotment money – As a class “B” dependent you will receive $37 per month - $ 22 is taken from my pay and the government pays $15.00 – The fellow in the office who handles allotments told me the day before that he had received notification that the allotment had gone thru – The payments started in March – and the check you received was for March, April, and May. Since the $22 was not taken from my pay in March – I owe $22 – and it will be taken from my July pay – I wrote you that I was making arrangements to send you $25 of my July pay. This will be impossible now of course. I hope by now you have received the $20 I sent from England – I will be sending money from time to time – You can put it in my saving account you have started – Thanks a lot for starting the account for me – I should be able to save a good bit of money here – and I’ll send it on – There is very little to buy here except an occasional souvenir – A kid gave me some French coins last night –

I guess you’ll be receiving the check for the June payment soon – You understand that they are paid after the month has passed – Have the Bonds come thru yet-? I should have one for April and May – as the Bond money was taken out in April –
