Somewhere in Germany

Dear Mom-

After months all along the border of Germany we have finally entered officially.  It’s really beautiful country some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. I was surprised to find some of the soil red just as it is in Virginia.

Your letter of March 8th came today- Not bad service. Last night I had letters from Henry Fennell and Harry Perrin. I sent Mrs. Perrin a Christmas card and she sent Harry my address. He’s a CPL. and a company aid man – somewhere in France. Henry is at Camp Gordon Georgia, Says it still seems strange to go a dance and not see me around somewhere. We went to a lot of them together. Mary Greshdan is at Gordon too. I’ll write him and tell him to look her up.

We were pretty busy at our last set up and I had very little time to write. I will probably be just as busy again soon so perhaps my letters will be infrequent for a while, but I’ll write whenever I have time.

Your popcorn package has not arrived us yet. I had a package from Ann Long in S.C. last night. She sent candy, cigarettes, and some magazines and stories. Edna wrote that she is sending a box of candy.

Hope Gene is home by now. He’s about due now I guess. Tell him to drop me a line and tell me where he was what he does and so on.

So long for this time- Goodnight

                                                                                    Love

                                                                                            Jack
