April 17, 1945-
Dear Mom-
Just a note to say that everything is ok- Got a letter from you yesterday- it was the first I’d heard for a couple of weeks-Sorry to hear that you’ve been sick-hope you are both ok by now-
We’ve fairly busy now but not so busy as we have been-I’m still on night duty-It’s 8:30 am now and I’ve just gotten off duty- The weather is grand and it looks like a good day for sleeping-
We were all surprised and sad to here of the president’s death- It’s really to bad he could not live to see the end of the war- which now seems so near. I think Truman will make a good president.
Well I’d better stop now and get a little shut eye- I’ll write again before very long- Take care of yourself- Write soon-
Love,
Jack-
