Dear Ginnie –
Well chum it’s been a long time since I’ve written you – and even longer since I’ve heard from you – Why don’t you take a ten minute break from your hectic day and drop me a line?
Things here in Germany are quiet in the particular sector although we’re giving ‘em Hell around Berlin these days – Everyone is full of rumors of the end of it all – of a link up with the Russians, (which is undoubtedly true) of who’s going home and who to the Pacific – Nothing certain of course – but it makes good talk –
The Hospital is alternately busy and slow – We had a bunch of liberated Russians (slave laborers set free in our drive) they got hold of some Wood alcohol somewhere and brother (I mean sister were they sick! They’re all gone now – now I have a colored Frenchman on the ward – I can’t make him understand me though – He’s a Madagascar product – It’s amazing however how much you can make a guy understand with one or two words and a few gestures –
We’ve moved our living quarters into a building now and another fellow and myself have a nice large room – It’s nice to be able to spread out a bit – after living out of a duffle bag
Time to sign off now – get out the old pen and drop me a line – So long for now
Love
Jack
