Dear Mom,
I haven’t heard from you for the past two or three days. Hope everything is OK at home- I keep wondering about Gene- Hope he’s ok well and happy as he can under the circumstances – The war there seems to be speeding up since the finish of war in this theater- Hope it won’t take too long-
It is still rather vague as to what we’ll do-I can’t decide which would be best for me- of course I have nothing at all to say as to what any fate may be but the possibilities seem to be two or three- (1) Stay here as occupation troops-probably for a year- in which case I wouldn’t be dodging bullets and bombs and would probably get the chance to go to school at least part of the time (2) that we get home- a short furlough- a bit of training perhaps- and ship to the Pacific- and have neither of the forementioned advantages – but that is not likely (I hope!). So you see I don’t know which would be better- I’d give almost anything though to get home for awhile- to see you Ginnie and my friends- I miss it all more so when we’re comparatively idle than when the war was foremost in our minds and we were busy- Time will tell-
Better close for this time-will write again soon-
Love, Jack
