                        Hello Dot.

Well, old gal, I received the fancy do dad. HA. HA. What a feeling. I didn’t know you cared. HA. HA. The beer label looked the best to me. HA. HA.

Well I’m not a pfc anymore. They made me a cpl. Now I have two stripes. HA. HA. I want to get the hell out, and they give me stripes. HA. HA. But, if I stay in, it’s 14 bucks to make a month. So that’s a lot of beer money. HA. HA. I like the new job. It’s good so far. I think I am getting a wee bit lazy. HA. HA. There’s no work to this, just walk men around. I get them new outfits, allotments, shots, and teach them to be a soldier. It’s easy work. I sleep and eat all the time. They only stay here about five days, and then we get new ones again.

I just got back from a trip to Georgia. I didn’t know where Ray’s wife lived so I didn’t get to see her. Took 250 troops down there. We were gone about four days and had a swell time. There were sleepers all the way down at the army’s expense. HA. HA. Also, all the way back. I met lots of rich people on the way back. I had lots of good beer and whiskey. HA. HA. They were bankers, all big shots from Washington. So you see, getting up in the world. HA. HA. I told the bankers I would see them after the war. I need about 2 million bucks. HA. I had them all hurting in the belly from laughing. I had a swell time on their whiskey. HA. HA. We were going through the sleeper to our own bunk when a nice leg came out of the curtain. I stopped and looked it over. I tickled her foot, boy. For a minute I thought I had the wide cord. What a shriek she let out. HA. Lavery took off running. I never did see her face. HA. HA. But I bet nobody slept through that shriek. HA. HA.

Well, say hello to the gals and the little man for me. Give the old man my best. I wish I could have gotten up to see you folks. But I may get home for good soon. Hope hope. How’s Ma? I hope she’s OK now. Give her my best. Well, until next time, I miss you all. Love and kisses.
