WRIT BY HAND

            HA HA

            Hello Dot,

Well, honey child, I am back at the old grind. I’m still putting them in and out here. Hope to be one of the going out kind soon now. Seems like a long time since I put this uniform on. I’ll be dam glad to get it off now. Ha ha.

I have 82 points so it won’t be long now. If you get a chance and get out near the church, get a birth paper for me. I lost that last one I had. My age is nuts on my record. I may not need it but I'm not taking any chances. If I remember correctly it should be October 8, 1935. I forget. Ha. Ha. Send it if you get it. I want to have them coming and going this time. Ha. Ha. But I think the points will be enough. But just in case, I want to have an ace in the hole. They can hold us for 90 days if the feel like it, but not on both the age and points. They’ve got to let you go if you have both.

Give Isabella and Aunty my best. Sorry I didn’t get to see them when I was home last, but I should be home for good soon now. The head husband should be getting out soon now.

So Mike finally made it. Ha ha. I bet he got sick on that book and read it to death. Ha. I bet that Doc got so sick of seeing Mike every morning. One of them had to get out. Ha. You can bet it was the service that took the beating. Mike was just in for rations and a bed. Ha ha. Glad the old boy made it O.K. It sure must have been rough on him. Ha. Ha.

Say hello to Ma when you see her. I could go for a good game of 500. Ha. Ha. I know I would get the worst of it. Ha. Ha. Boy I sure had the luck that day. Ha. Ha. I’ve got to even that up one of these days. Ha. Ha.

Tell the old man to lay off the beer for a while. I may get home soon want him to be good and dry. Ha. Ha. That will be a blow out that is a blow out. Ha. Ha.

So the young man had a birth day. Boy he sure is growing up fast. Say hello to him from me. Ha. Give the girls my best. How is Shirl coming along with the boy friend? Is he out of the dog house yet? Ha. Ha. Dot, do you remember that puppy love? Boy those were the days. Ha.

I got a short note from Roy. I still can’t make out what the hell it says. Ha. Ha. I thought I wrote badly, but wow. First I thought it was in short hand, but a guy here says it isn’t. He went to college though so he can’t help me out. Ha. Ha. I think the dam Navy has chickens. Roy just lets them walk through the ink then over the paper. Ha. Ha.

Well kid, I’ve got to go back to work now. I’ll write to you when I get a chance again. How’s the dog? Give my best to them all. One Kiss.

Jim.
