Dearest Mama,

This is to be a very speedy letter. I received the money order that you sent me and was surely glad that Dot paid for the dresses at just the opportune moment! I had a little hard lunch today. When I went over to the postoffice to send my money order, I carelessly left my fountain pen on the bench or desk where I was making it out. I called the post office right after I back to the library and discovered it but of course, it had gone for evermore. You couldn’t expect a life-time chauffer to be turned in, at least not around am army camp. So I want you to send me my other pen just as soon as you possibly can. I am lost without one and it is certainly going to be bad over the holidays, what with all my Christmas cards to be sent out and all. Send the pen insured and I will be sure to get it. You can tell Edith that I am certainly grateful that she thought of me last year. Now you won’t have any pen to write with, but you don’t write many letters anyway. You will have to go back to the old penholder.

The weather has turned very cold. There is the feel of snow in the air and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it wouldn’t start in before the afternoon is over. My am completely over my cold now, so I would enjoy seeing the snow.

Haven’t time to write anymore now. I bought a new hat ( 4.50) and am going to buy two shirts with my Christmas money. Also am going to get a permanent wave.

                                                                        Goodbye for now, dear.

                                                                                    Love to all,

                                                                                                Marie Louise
