Dear Jack,

Received your letter today.  I was kind of surprised but glad to hear from you.

No, I haven’t heard from Frank lately.  Where is he?

Genie Reis joined the navy last Tuesday.  Pretty soon there won’t be any one left in the 7th ward.

What made you ask me if I minded if you wrote?  I don’t mind in the least.  After all, I know how it is when the time just drags on and on.

Tell your friend Al. Baxter to tell me more about himself when he writes.

When are you going to get your furlough? We’re all anxious to see you in that snappy uniform.  We’ll have to have a “welcome home” party for you—if Mrs. Brandt will let us use the cellar.

Johnny was supposed to come home yesterday, but he had to work too.  But he’ll be home for Xmas (I hope).

Up in Saugerties and Woodstock and those places it’s snowing quite hard—but the sun is shining in Kingston.  We’ll probably get the tail end of the storm tomorrow.

I suppose you heard that the K.H.S. was beaten (25-0) again yesterday by Newburgh.  We might just as well cal it quits.

I’ll close for now.  Hope to hear from you soon.

An old friend,

Ben
