Hi Jack,
Will you forgive me for not writing sooner? I’ve been so awfully busy lately that I just didn’t get a chance until now. You see, I’ve been looking for a job and as usual didn’t find one to my liking.
Ice-skating had been swell here up until today when it started to rain, so I guess it’s ruined again for a couple of weeks or so.
Last night
I went to
Yes, I heard from Frank a few weeks ago, and I took so long to answer his letter that I guess he decided to wait awhile to answer mine too. I realize I’m slow in answering, but sometimes it can’t be helped.
Saw “Leave Her to Heaven” last week which was a very good picture. I had read the book and found the picture to be exactly the same. Have you been to any movies lately or don’t you get time for them anymore?
You should be getting a furlough soon, shouldn’t you Jack? We’re all quite anxious here to see how you look in uniform and to hear all about your Marine life. You did promise to send me a picture of yourself but as yet I didn’t get one. What happened? Do send one though as soon as you get a chance.
I probably told you about Willie our little tan kitten that we got a few months ago. He’s quite a big cat now and has the desire to go prowling around at night by himself, but we keep him locked in the cellar and let him out only during the day. Last week he was dreadfully sick so “Ella to the rescue” brought down a glass of whiskey which I poured down his mouth, He’s been feeling fine ever since. He surely did struggle but later on he became so dopey from the liquor and fell to sleep for a few hours. It was probably just a cold he had? We raised him from a baby on a bottle and wouldn’t want anything to happen to him now.
I have no more news for now so I’ll sign off here. Write soon and remember a picture if you have one.
As ever,
June
