Dear Mom,

Got a v-mail from you yesterday. You said that you had received only one letter since VE Day, but before I got that one I viewed letters from you answering others that were written since the one you referred to in the letter I received yesterday. That goes to show you how mixed up the mail is.

Just got back from a thru day pass in Belgium. Went to Chaleroit it sure is a wonderful town. They have a nice rest center there for soldiers on pass.

Just received a song book from some of the boys sent me from the old outfit. They said they thot it might help pass the evening, as long as we can’t fraternize ha ha!

Went down to the river with another fellow fishing tonight. Didn’t even get a bite. Don’t know what was wrong. There were fish jumping all around us.
