Dear Mom,
Just received your mail air mail letters this evening. Just keep them coming. They are far ahead of them darn V-mail affairs and they get to me just as quick.
I’m sorry to hear about George Robbins. That family sure must have been hit by a jinx. Haven’t heard from Freda for quite some time.
It is lovely here now. Has been for the last three or four days.
I was stationed in Kasell, Germany at my last organization. It is approximately in the winter of Germany. On the extreme edge of the American occupied fort.
I am still using the pen that you sent me in England. It sure is a good pen. Writes better now than it used to.
I guess there is no question that it was the atomic bomb turned the trick with the Japs. It was just like Truman said. They would either have to give up or face extinction. And he wasn’t kidding. I think they would have given up anyway, but it would have cost a lot more lives of American boys (any one of which is worth 5,000 of any other nationality.)
Just heard on the radio that the Americans are in the process of occupying Japan.
Guess it is about over but the shouting.
Will sign off for now.
Love, John
