Dear Evelyn,

If you never read or answer this letter, I well deserve it for not answering sooner.  I do want to thank you for all your lovely cards and letters.  I am in great hopes this letter finds you and your folks happy and well.  It is nice to hear about the farm and Ashland, as I do like the country.  You know Evelyn some day I hope to come back there and live.  I miss everybody and the swell times I had.

The situation here is about the same.  The Marine Base is very nice but I don’t like the duty here.  San Diego is terrible so I hardly ever go to town.  The sports I take place in are really my enjoyment.  We have a very good basketball team, which I am playing on.  I expect I will be going across again soon.  I don’t exactly like the thoughts of it as I had plenty before.  I won’t bore you with my experiences as mother probably told most of the news.

I sure wish I was back on the farm working with you folks.  Tell your Mother and Dad I said hello and for them to take care of themselves.  I hope to have more news in my next letter.  Goodbye and lots of Luck.

                                                                                                                                    Always,

                                                                                                                                                Jack
