Dear Billy,
Hiya, Honey Chile!
I had a letter from Heltie this
week and he said that he had heard from you. He tells me that you anticipate a
few days’ leave and are going to the Riviera. I hope you have a nice time and
I’m so glad you have an opportunity to go. Do take pictures and send them to
us.
As I told you, Heltie went to
Maine last Wednesday night and left for Boston on Saturday night. Everything
went well and he said the trip was a success.
I
had a letter from Maggie yesterday. She said she received the Christmas package
I sent her from you. From what she says, she must be leading quite a rugged
existence. She said she is living in a tent and the hospital is also in a tent.
I was just talking with Ham’s sister and she says they
haven’t heard anything further from Ham. Kay has two letters from him, written
while in the German hospital, but they haven’t heard from him at all since he
has moved to the prison camp.
I have another package about ready to send to you. I just
have a few more things to get. I shall probably mail it on Saturday or next
Monday. I’ll let you know when I have actually sent it so you can be on the
look-out for it. By the way, ask me for a fruit cake in each of your letters.
I’m running out of “request” letters.
As yet I haven’t received your birthday package, but it
should be arriving soon. Needless to say, I’m anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.
I’m sending you an envelope with some clippings I think
you will enjoy reading. There are several of Ernie Pyle’s columns, ect.
I don’t know whether I told you this or not, but Aunt
Marge phoned a couple of weeks ago and said Raymond is now on Luzon. They were
a bit worried because they hadn’t heard from him in quite some time. Raymond
certainly has had his share of fighting and I should think they’d be sending
him home soon.
By for now, Honey
Lamb
