Dear Billy,

I received your letter of May 20th this morning, as did mother.

Your clock certainly was a bargain and I’m so glad you were able to get it. Those clocks certainly are the cutest things. You only paid about 40% of what you would have to pay here, if you could get one. As I told you before, a couple of the places said they have one of the clocks, but the kind that are available don’t have either the calendar or the alarm.

I phoned the kodak people a few minutes ago and they tell me they have some of the 828 films so I am going to leave the office early and go up, armed with my “request” letter and see how many they will give me. They usually only give two films with a “request” letter, but I’m going to see if I can make goo-goo eyes at the man and see if I can get three or four.

I shall be very anxious to see the pictures of the V-E celebration over there. I guess it really was something. I’m so happy that I was able to get you that little camera, Billy. Although it’s not a good one, it is handy to carry and answers the purpose.

I’m glad you liked the little snapshot I sent you, honey chile, and I don’t have to tell you that your comment about it just fitting into your wallet made me pretty happy. I have pictures of you and Heltie in my wallet, too.

Mother was telling me you had some regular photographs taken. I hope they come out all right. When you sent them home, make sure you pack them well so nothing will happen to them. You sure must have felt peculiar with all the junk they put on your face before they took the pictures.

I’m glad your tennis shoes arrived all right. I can’t imagine what has happened to my package of March 14th. You certainly should have had it before now. I’m getting another package together and should have it ready to send the early part of next week. I just phoned Altman’s and they said they have the Smithfield ham spread so I’ll get a jar of that this afternoon to put in the package.

We have some poppies in our garden, Billy, and they are just about the most beautiful things. Head gave us the plants last year. We picked one of them last night and have it in a vase in the reception room. The steam is about 15” long and the flower itself is about 4” in diameter.
