Dear Billy:
I received
your letter on June 28th, and the enclosed
check for $20 yesterday morning. You owed me 2.50 toward Dad’s Father’s Day
present, so you have a balance of 17.50 left.
I’m
so glad that you received your blouse and like the “hershey
bars” as you know I got them wholesale and only paid $1.20 for the four of
them, which is less than half of what they would have cost in Macy’s and the
ones in Macy’s probably wouldn’t have been as nice. If any of your friends over
there would like me to get some for them, I think I can do it and, of course I shall
be more than happy to do it.
I
can’t understand why you haven’t received the packages I sent you prior to the
one containing your blouse. Of course, they went to your old address, that is, “Exchg. Div. – HQ. COMD. –ETOUSA”.
I suggest you check with them there and see if they know anything about the packages
or else check with the post office, if that is possible. I give you again a
list of packages which are on the way to you, but which you have not received:
3/14/45- Smoked turkey spread, crackers, candy, etc.
5/11/45- White tennis jacket and candy
5/29/45- Sandwich spreads,
crackers, nuts, 2 films and candy
6/15/45- Fruit cake, walnut tobacco and candy
If
you received any of these, the letter in which you acknowledged them must have
gone astray, so let me know again.
I
took Thursday off and so did Dad and the four of us went
to Atlantic City. We had lunch in Hackney’s but it wasn’t nearly as nice as it
used to be and they didn’t even serve a bit of butter for the rolls.
We
had a very nice day, but it did rain coming home.
I
hope that you are able to get your leave and that it won’t be to hot for you to go to the Riveria.
If you do go, I shall be very anxious to hear all about it. I imagine it’s sort
of like our Atlantic City.
Send
the pictures just as soon as you get a chance. We’re anxiously awaiting them.
I
had some good news yesterday—we now get three weeks vacation instead of two.
Isn’t that something? I’m taking it in days the same as I did last year, so at
a day off a week my vacation will last through October. Good bye for now Honey
Lamb. Let me know if you want anything.
