Dear Mom, Dad & Marie,

It has been quite a long time since I have written to you and I hope you will overlook it as we have been terribly busy. But now I have a few hours of my own and so will try to answer you letters, (7 of them) now.

First of all I would like to tell Dad that at the first opportunity I will send the papers which will release those travelers checks. At the present time it is almost impossible to obtain them as that must wait I suppose. But I want you to know that I am doing my part since in the past few days I have purchased $400.00 worth of war bonds. You see we hadn’t been paid for a few months and so when we did have a payday, I bought bonds with most of my pay. Our squadron alone bought over $15,000 worth of bonds.

I would like to know more about the allotment checks which you say you have been receiving. You see they were supposed to have stopped after October or November as the government now allows allotments to be made by fellows who have dependants. So if you can tell me how many checks you have received and what months they were for, it will probably help me some of these days.

I surely was sorry to hear of Alma & Frank’s loss but as you say those things will happen. I have been trying to write him a letter for about 2 weeks or more and thank him for the swell box of candy but have found it very hard to get to. Maybe I will be able to write him and Alma after I finished this letter to you.

So you had snow? I think I would like to see some snow for a change. The last winter that could be called a real winter, was when I was at Scott.

I wish it was possible to write to Aunt Moselle and all the folks across the river, but at the present it just can’t be done. By the way, what are Uncle Louis’s initials? L.F.?

Find out form Ann Lamb, what outfit Carroll is with and maybe if we come close together at any time I can look him up. It sure would be nice if I could contact him over here.

I also owe Marie a letter and Margaret too. Several of Marie’s letters have reached me and I find that she is growing up fast. To her I will also try to dash off a letter now, after this one.

Please don’t send any more packages unless I write and ask as the shipping is being strained to the limit by the large volume of mail. (Packages).

Tell Marie that I am not really serious about that little Australian lassie and not to worry about me.

Now if I don’t close, I never will get those other letters written.

So I send all my love, and pray the Lord will watch over you as He has over me.

                                                                        Your son,

                                                                        Aubrey
