Dear Mom, Dad, & Marie,
Today has been a fine day for me. I had to work all morning but this afternoon I managed to get to the post office and you will see the results of my expedition.
Also this afternoon when the work was finished I went to see the Bob Hope Show which came at last. It was swell and Bob kept the boys in stitches the whole while. With him were Frances Langford, Lanny Ross, Jerry Calone, (spelling) Pat Thomas, (what a gal) Tony Romero the guitarist of Hollywood. You see they really had the stars and in all it was swell. I took some pictures which I hope will be good but I have some doubts as I had to shoot them from quite a distance. Will let you know about that later.
And when I came back to camp I found two packages for me. One from you with the book, the knife (it’s a beaut) the “chow” and film. For all these, ten thousand kisses.
And the other package was from Margaret. She sent the magazines I asked her for. They were swell and will furnish considerable reading time for me and the boys in our tent.
To make the day complete I went to the show tonight and saw Miss Durbin in “Hers to Hold,” which I enjoyed hugely. She sends me, (I think that’s the latest expression, right?) Lovely voice and lovely girl. Too bad her married life was wrecked. But that’s the Hollywood way I guess.
Last but not least, I’m getting a bang out of this letter. I rather enjoy writing, when I have something to say that’s interesting. And I hope this has been interesting. I’m enclosing three pictures 2 of which I was unable to mail until just recently. Hope you like them.
My love to you all,
Aubrey
P.S. Use as much of the money you want, its okay with me. Five hundred dollars is a nice sum & I’ll have some more on the way before long.
A.
