Dear Mother:
As I do not save any letters I can’t look back and refer to them. As soon as I’ve answered the letters I file them in the can.
We had fish this noon but it wasn’t very good.
Shipping on boats bound for Russia promises to show Norman plenty of action. Herb qualified for all there positions but chose navigation. The hike was O.K. and the gas attack was a flop as far a plane was concerned. Instead they had a jeep come down the road with a gas pot on the back. I’ve gotten a few Easter cards so far.
Getting bonds from the government take about six months. We do not have them here as far as I know
A bunch of pilots go to Preflight but it looks like I’ll be here another 4 ½ weeks. They only took 16 from here and the rest from the squadrons that have been here a long time. There has been a rumor about going to Santa Anna, Calif. But I don’t believe that.
Just got through with dinner and sitting around for something to happen.
They rent cars and motorcycles in San Antonio for $1 an hour.
I got cards from you, the minister, Adeline Myers, Vernelle Sauders—
Well don’t eat to much fish.
So long,
Melvin
