Dear Folks,
Well
here it is, my first night in the Army. Lights are about to go out- 9:00 pm. We
received our clothes this morning and I’ve sent my old clothes home. Say will
you send my top- coat to the cleaners, before you put them up?
The
chow here is just below that of Gallups, but I guess
I will live. The three fellows- Richardson, Waterlouie,
and another fellow and myself are all together.
Our
cadets are almost in a class by themselves up here. I don’t expect to be here
long, so don’t write, but have a half- dozen wire hangers ready to ship at the
first notice. Those collapsible ones are in my draw so you can look them up.
Everything
is o.k. with me and don’t worry about me. The army can’t hurt me. I’ve found
out that Joe was right- you rush to wait and wait to rush. Well I’ve joined the
Army to send my mail free- here is the first one.-
Will write later.
Love-
Pvt.
John
