Dearest baby, oh darling sweetie!! I’ve just now
received your cable, and I just can’t stand such relief! How wonderful to have
direct word from you at last, darling. I am so glad you’re safe, and glad too
that you still warm! The telegram girl read it to me over the telephone, so
perhaps I didn’t get every word, but a copy is being mailed to me. I’ve written
to your mother, Aunt Alice, Jerry, Jack, etc. as well as my daddy. Always when
I have word from you I will repeat it, so if you only have time for one letter,
please make it to me! I love you so. Doctor Kelly says I’m absolutely perfect:
HE HEARD THE BABY’S HEARTBEAT TODAY! Isn’t that wonderful?! I nearly
cried I was so thrilled. He reserved my hospital room—private, of course. Okay?
I still feel all wobbly from the message, and it came a whole hour ago. My
brother is in India. I will write you his address. Edward, my darling dear, I
love you completely and more each day. Keep safe and well for your wife
