Hello Folks,

So you think I sound disgusted, well to tell you the truth I will be until I get out of the army. They say a soldier that complains is a good soldier. Don’t think I’m the only one. There are many more like me.

I’m glad to hear that Bob is in the states. When he gets home let me know and I’ll see what I can do about getting a pass to go home. I hope they will give it to me.

I received that letter from Andy in Iran. He was made a First Lieutenant last February. He also mentioned that the temperature rose 130 [degrees] one day last April. Quite hot.

What a time I’ve been having. All I do is eat, sleep, and keep out of the sergeant’s sight. When he sees me he puts me to work. It’s happened twice in the past week. As [of] yet I haven’t been assigned to a crew.

[Back of letter] I’m in no hurry. I am supposed to be assigned today to a new group coming in but they haven’t shown up yet and it’s one o’clock PM.

Savannah is as bad as they say it is. There are about five or six U.S.O. and a few show houses. That’s all the entertainments. I see where I save a little money.

The temperature is now 98 [degrees]. Nice day to go swimming. I can just see myself laughing on the sand smoking my pipe. Oh, what a life.

If I’m still unassigned I may be able to get off when Bob gets home. Hope so.

I think I’ll close now. Write when ever you can. Bye now-

                    Love John.
