My darling husband,
I
wrote you a letter last night to be mailed today, but because we have had so
much to do, I will not make the post office before mail time. We are going in
town in a few minutes, and will take these, and they will not go out ‘til
tomorrow. One year ago today, we moved into our very first house. Dearest
Edmund! I was so happy there! Little Jamie – baby had her first sun bath
this morning! Dr. Kelly said when she was six weeks old she could start having
sun baths, and she adored it! She only had a few minutes exposure, of
course, but she seemed to enjoy it terrifically. Then she had a nice long
outdoor nap under her ‘skeater’ [mosquito] net and
umbrella. She is six weeks old today, and weighs 8 pounds 13 [ounces] now! Such
an armful of dearness! Her eyes are definitely dark gray now and lovely. Her
hair is reddish brown, only a mite darker now than mine! Honey, remember that
queen India print bed spread you sent me? I’m using it now, here, on my bed. It
looks so pretty with the flowered wallpaper in there. I brought along my
gorgeous white rug, too, so Jamie’s and my bedroom is all fixed up with wiss [with] “pesints [presents]
for us.” Please come home soon, beloved. I am so lonely for you. I love you so
very much and more and more. Jamie helps, but oh, darling I need you in so many
ways!
Your
wife,
Big
Girl
