Dear Folks,
Well I have left Mitchel field. I am sorry I couldn’t or I should say didn’t call before I left. It was like this: I was going to call you but I laid down about five o’clock and didn’t wake up until two p.m. I didn’t mean to sleep that long because I was figuring on placing a call. No doubt you are wondering I am. I am sorry I can’t tell you but I will say I am still around.
Have you heard anything from Nana? I hope she is O.K. I had hoped I would have gotten to see her when I was home on furlough, but you know those women kept me busy. I didn’t see Tommy for he didn’t call. I would have liked to have seen him and Robert before I left but there isn’t any chance of my doing it now. We have gotten a lot more equipment. I have my forty-five here in front of me. In NY we got new issue. Oh, yes: I just got a new pair of shoes for myself. No stamps- made by friend and two other names- Paid 7.50 for these- a very good shoe. Say I have a few more letters to write so I’ll cut this short. Please Ma and Pa use your head about my going over- I’ll be O.K. I mean it. Until soon,
Love
John
P.S. How is Don McBeth making out?
