Dear Joe:
Received your letter. Am glad to hear that you are
doing well. Am very sorry I was not at home. If I knew you were coming,
I would have been home. Your father was around to see me and he was telling me
all about you. Well son, the only thing I can tell you that may God be with you
all the way and watch over you all and my heart is with you. It is pretty nice
when you have a nice bunch of boys in an outfit. We had a terrible hurricane
down here, but [it] didn’t damage Philadelphia much, but [it] damaged Atlantic
City and other sea shore resorts inside sunny Long Island. Atlantic City got it
worst of all [and] many lives were lost. Even [the] coast guards on the water
were lost. They claimed about $30,000,000 damage in all. It was awful. So you
see we were [in] trouble right here. Well, son, I think I have told you about
all the news. For now, love from all at home. Write when you can and may
God bless you. I will always remain your friend.
Thresa
