Dear Father,
Today I was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Until now the customary award was a ribbon. Now they have struck a medal. I will eventually send it home, but I loose it in knocking around. To date I have the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the Good Conduct ribbon I doubt if I get anything but then one never can tell. Those old boys in Europe joining us will have a shirt full before it was through. There are rumors that various areas in the Pacific will have separate ribbons. That remains to be seen.
Today the Two Timer Stamp arrived. I am rather taken with it. Thank you for carrying on this service for me when I am away. Someday we are going to have quite a time in sorting them out.
One nice thing about this area is the presence of various fungus growths which assail the white man. The general breeding is Jungle Rot. It may hit anywhere from face to feet. It is great to be continuously itching [content censored]. Things are peaceful maybe too much so. I have no complaints.
