Dear Father,

Tomorrow morning perhaps the solemn strains of Reveille will be reinforced by an old favorite of ours – “Marching Through Georgia”.  To night I relieved the Goup CQ so that he could go to the movies.  At 2100, a bugler from one of the battalions came in to blow.  I approached him with the idea of throwing in a few licks of that southern favorite.  In view of the fact that he was a GI made windbag he had never heard of the piece.  However if it is in the manual, he will give forth tomorrow morning. Something to look forward to.

Money is one of those things today, which is plenty hard to get rid of in such a way as to get a fair interest return, have a fair liquid state and above all safety.  Sometimes I wonder if the present Bank Insurance laws were designed to draw or force all capital from private enterprise.
