Dear Father,

I am a day late in this letter because last night about the time I was getting down to business, we had an air raid. The war may be over, but there are many Japs who apparently can’t read or don’t listen to the radio.

The topic around here is when do we get out. Some figure that it will be only a very short period. As far as I can see it probably will be a long wait. In all justice, outfits that have been fighting since 1942 have the right to be first. The reviewed Drafts should produce but it doubtless will be slow. With a certain amount of luck I might be able to enter the fall term next year. It is at least a possible date. From here in I figure to be pretty careful. It would be rough to get knocked off after the fighting was all over. That May 26 Alumni News has given me a lot of material. I am looking forward to the Commencement number. The service News carried a fair account but I want more details. I wonder when they will start setting the War Record in motion. It ought to be quite a volume.
