Dearest Clara,
Darling, I will get this one written
while I am waiting for the mess truck, I hope that I get some mail from you
when I get down there. I didn’t do very much today. It has been raining pretty
hard this afternoon. I did manage to get a few shells cleaned up. I’m trying to
get a box full before I send them to you. I can make them into something
pretty, when I get back.
I guess that the spray I put on the
tent must be alright, it don’t seem to be leaking any more. I did get 3 hours
sleep this afternoon. I was sleepy from standing guard last night. I lie awake
so much of the time, too.
Well, honey I went to chow and got
two letters from you and one from Lyle, so I got to get your answer right this
evening. The three pictures came, thanks sweetheart. Honey, isn’t the one taken
at Grandma’s by the bushy tree? You look so sweet but tired, which I know you
were, I tell you all about the others.
With
all my love,
My
dear wife, Clara,
Your
hubby Johnny
