Sept. 18, 1944
Dearest Clara,
Well
honey, I will write this one to you, before I start Mother’s. It isn’t very late, and is cooling down
some. One of the boys was showing me
some of the pictures his folks sent him, they were nice. I showed all of mine to him. It’s sure nice to have our pictures with
us. Pauly said she would like to have a
picture of me in uniform, like the ones you sent to me, but I don’t want to
part with them. She put up 19 jars of
apple jelly. I had it doesn’t taste as
good as what you put up, or maybe I’m being selfish. She sent Vern an identification bracelet for
his Christmas, I bet he will like it fine. Darling, I’ll write and tell you all I am
allowed, as I love you sweetheart. Do be
good and careful. Good-night.
With all my
love, to my dear wife,
Johnny.
