March 10, 1944

My darling,

Your letter came today; no I don’t feel so lonesome. I can’t believe I was there for almost four days. They were the fastest days I ever had. I know now that I am going to like being married to you. Why ten years with you will come around so quick it will seem like a year. You can see now why we are meant for each other.

I just got back a few minutes ago from the infiltration course. We had to go over it at night. We could see the tracers whizzing over our heads, it was fun but I caught my jacket in a couple of places, but it was just an old one. I was on C.Q. all day today. The company went out on the range so I had to stay here. I wrote a letter to mother and one to Charlie but I held off with this one until I got yours. I thought maybe you would have a few questions for me to answer. I want to tell you right now that I am very much in love with you. I’ll be able to get you a few pillowcases if you need them. I am going to check on a foot   locker for you. I will let you know as soon as I can. That grill you wrote about sounds good to me, maybe it will come in handy someday.

I had a good trip back here to camp. I was tired and sleepy and slept most of the way back. I may come home next weekend again if you think its alright, then two weeks after that you should be coming down if everything turns out the way we want it.

Don’t forget to get my watch fixed; I miss it almost as much as I do you.

I like to do things for you and the baby, it makes me feel more married, and more like a father. I like him so much, and I think I would make a good nurse maid if you ever wanted to go out. If you need me so bad maybe I can get a release from the army.

I am never bored when I am with you, never. I can’t explain it exactly, maybe you know better what it is.

It’s just about bedtime now, time for the lights to go out, so I’ll say goodnight for now. I’ll be dreaming of you.

I love you so dearly,

Preston
