My dearest wife,

I hit the jack pot today. I had three letters. One from you, one from Charlie, and one from home. I found Charlie’s picture in the paper today and another friend of mine for my scrap book which I don’t have.

Thanks for the pictures honey. The one where your mother is holding the baby is the best and clearest. The boys like that pin up girl. Where did you get her and do you have a negative? One of the boys wants to enlarge it.

It has been a dull day. Being sgt. of the guard last night, I had the morning off to sleep, and I slept pretty good. We had another beautiful day today again, just like a spring day, in fact it is spring now isn’t it.

I am very much in love with you today again. It will be wonderful when I can come home to see you every night again. It will be like starting a new life. You sure can give me happiness. I can’t stop being thankful that I married you, you’re so good to and for me.

I was serious about that correspondence course honey. They say they are good and it only costs $2, and I can take as many subjects as I want. I could work on it in the evening, and I would appreciate very much if you would help me.

Did you find out about the baggage car on that train?

Don’t worry too much about cooking honey, you can do it and I know it. I guess you do too, you will have to cook mostly for yourself, and you better not starve yourself either.

I just back from a USO dance show they had here at theater No. 3 and it wasn’t too bad, some good jokes and a good jitter bug team, and a good looking girl singer.

Jack went home tonight, he is lucky living so close.

My ring hasn’t been shining today. Are you alright? I am a little worried about you. Try and keep happy for me. And write to me as often as you can.

            Goodnight my dearest wife.

            All my love,

                        Preston
