My dearest wife,
It
is awfully hot here tonight, I never sweated as much as I am now in Franklin,
but then I had you there to take the heat off my mind. I am getting that awful lonesome
feeling already and it’s only a week. I wish we would go overseas soon. I could
forget about it more. I may as well be over I can’t have you with me anyway.
My
class went over alright today, only two more hours more to go. One tomorrow and one next week. I am getting this paper all
messy from my sweat. No kidding honey, I’ll bet you never saw me like this
before.
How
is little Pres behaving? I hope he is as good now as he was for us. I really
miss Franklin.
I
haven’t heard from home yet, but I should within the next day or so. By the way when you are going to go to Pa. Maybe by the time
I get my furlough in a month or so you won’t be able to travel again. I’ll
leave it up to you, if you don’t want to go, then isn’t anything I can do or
say about it. Don’t count too much on the furlough I
only know one thing, they have to give up one before we go over, if we haven’t
had one for six months.
I think I am going to
cut this short honey, it’s too damn how for writing letters.
Tell the family I was
asking about them, and give Allen another kiss for me.
All
My Love,
Preston
