Friday 1 AM
My dearest husband:
We had a date tonite again it being Fri. [Friday] nite. We only went to the show tho as this is just a small town, and we came right home since there’s a ten o clock curfew on Fri. [Friday] nites. However it was a fairly good show “Belle of the Yuckon” with Gypsy Rose Lee, who was grand. There were also some nice songs. I wore my black dress and your pin and earrings which I really and truly do like.
I love you, my Preston, always remember. Right now I am thinking of you while you read this note or maybe I am dreaming of you as usual. I got three letters today, 39, 40, 41. I am only answering 41 right now, however gee there’s not much in it to answer.
Barbara and I went downtown today for the first time. She cried of course. Everyone thinks she is pretty and commented on her long eyelashes and blue eyes. She wanted to sit up so hardly imagine! And only 2 ½ mos. [months] (have you only been gone that long?)
On the way home, I stopped by Maries. She had 2 copies of “Tree Grows in Brooklyn” so I bought one for us. Her mother sold their house and they are moving to a smaller one in back. Cindy is getting cute; the image of Joe and every bit like Allen.
I’ll write more tomorrow nite but now I am very tired so will go to bed for a couple of hours.
Keep those chins up, honey, and the devils lite in your eyes for your own.
Maggie
With all my love
