Saturday nite
My
dearest wife;
I guess by the time you get this
letter the war will be over on this side. There have been some very favorable
reports lately. Can’t see how it can last very much longer. Right now I’d say
it will be over within the next 48 hours.
It is still raining here honey, and I
went to the show a pretty good show, “Between two Women.” It was one of those
Dr. Kildore pictures. One of the most beautiful
blondes was in it, you know the kind you’d like to
meet on a desert island.
I received another letter from Ruth
today. Bud is still home but still expects to be called. She is still sweating
out those cigarette lines. I can’t see standing in line for hours for an old
cigarette. She says she is starting to roll her own, I’d
like to see that.
There isn’t very much I have to say
tonight. I answered all your letters up to date. The last few are very short
and nothing to answer in them, but I guess you are kept quite busy and get very
tired by the end of the day.
I love you Maggie and can’t help
thinking that maybe I will get a chance to come home soon.
Goodnite dearest
All my love,
Pres.
