My darling, Maggie:
And
now it is time to write to you once again my lovely wife. I wrote four letters
this afternoon, this makes the fifth. I put off writing to you until last and
because I always like to write to you in the evening. I went to the show and
just came back and saw Jack Oakie in something about
a spirit. I forgot the name of it. It wasn’t too bad, but I have seen better.
You’re
picture is sitting in front of me, you are looking at
me, watching me write to you. I love you so much this lonesome Sunday, Maggie, But every day is getting lonesome for me. I want to be loved
by you so much. I know you love me more than you ever did before because I can
feel it over here. You seem so near to me. As every day goes by, it is one day
nearer to you. At this minute I am giving you a big kiss. Can you feel my warm
lips on yours? I like your lipstick- what kind are you using? It tastes very
good. Your kisses seemed to have improved, Have you been practicing on anyone?
You know you are supposed to be saving everything for me.
Maggie
Searle- I love you – truly.
Maggie,
I did get a letter from you today, a v-mail so I am not quite as lonesome. I
know now that even if I don’t hear from you, you are thinking about me because
you can’t help it. I woke up this morning about 10:30 but I was rolling and
tossing all the time. I just can’t get you off my mind for one minute anymore.
Maggie,
I was just thinking today that you I would like to build you up and make you more
solid and at the same time be doing the same to myself. If you agree and with
your cooperation, we could do some exercises together, easy ones at first until
we become accustomed to them, and from there work up, I know it wouldn’t hurt
either of us and we would be a healthy, strong, good looking, couple. Maybe a half an hour every night or three or four times a week.
We could also take our walks, which we both like to do. I would like you to do
a few pushups to build up your arms and stomach muscles, pull down our waste
line a little and make us look better all around. I could get my wrestling with
you when we go to bed. It’s things like that that will make us get along better
and be more happier as we are doing something together. Tell me what you think
of what I just said. It’s just an idea, so if you like it, tell me so and if
you don’t, tell me that too.
Maggie
I could use a big drink right now- with you. I hope you will have some whiskey
on hand when I get home. I just thought of another thing that would save a
little time. Maybe you could have a room already for us by the time I get to
meet you. But then maybe we will have a lot of time, but who knows.
We
have been having showers here most of the day, so it made a good day to catch
up on my correspondence. It is cleared up now and I believe we will have a nice
day tomorrow.
Have
you seen much of Allentown yet? Mother just told me that Althea was married
about two weeks ago and that you were just about a day late seeing the circus.
I’ll bet Allen would have went crazy over it. They,
that is Mother and Dad, were so anxious about your
coming home, they even went to bed early to get up at 4:30 to leave for
Philadelphia. They like you al lot Maggie, as I guess you know it by their
time. I guess Ruth will be kinda lonesome down in her
house alone, now that Bud left, if he passed for the service. He was kinda foolish for wanting to go, but he will soon find that
out for himself. Don’t forget to have Dad show you around Lehigh Valley, Dorney Park, and some of the other places you might like.
Have you had any beer yet? If you did, is it still as good as it was? I could
drink a couple gallons of some good beer tonight.
Tell
me all about yourself and how you like it.
Goodnight
Darling,
I
love you always and all ways.
Pres
P.S Here is our patch. That fancy one is for your collection
and the other is for Allen. Do you like it? It’s Army Service Forces, Com.
Zone.
I
love you again my dear. My heart belongs to you.
I
do love you so
Your
very lonesome husband
Pres.
Tell me honey- do I tell you that I love you too
much?
How
many letters did you have from me when you arrived?
Did
you get that bracelet? Do you want to keep it? Tell me please.
