Dear Joy,

I received a letter from you yesterday dated January 12, and, will try to write a few lines, although I don’t know what to write about.  I had an anniversary yesterday and today.  Yesterday was our’s and today was 4 months since I got here this time.  The time has passed much better this time down here at least.  It won’t be long before I can come home if I want to, at least for a little while, but I don’t believe I will, unless they want me up there.  Did you go down and ask them what I told you to?  If I do come home this spring, I am going to work right away, either for Harvey in St. Louis, or for Bob if he has anything decent for me.  Have you heard anything about what Bob Shuler is planning on after his birthday?

We have quite a family here now, as there are 4 of us living here.  The sandflies have been  pretty bad the last few days, but not  nearly as bad here as at camp.  My good #1 watch finally quit me last week and I bought another.  I got a real expensive one this time, paid $2.95 for this one, and had to overhaul it the 1st day, too. I saw a pretty good picture show last night, but it don’t  look like there is anything good on for the rest of the week.  I looked thru the list and they are all lousy.

I’ve worked with these native helpers down here so much that I am getting so I can rattle off Spanish pretty good now too.  Well, that is all for now so I will close and get ready for bed.

                                                                                                 Love,

                                                                                                  Tom
