Dear Joy & Mother,

Well, another week is gone and only a couple more days until election.  Wonder who will get in this time.  From what little we get a hold of it sounds like Roosevelt again.  I haven’t been out all day today, just laid around and slept most of the day.  I have a pretty bad cold and have had a cough for quite awhile, but I guess I will get over it sometime.  I haven’t had any mail for almost a week now, and, haven’t received any of my packages.  I never have got the letter that was to be mailed on the same day that you sent the V-mail, and, I got that eight days ago.  I don’t believe I have received over half of my mail in the last 6 weeks, as I have only been getting one or two letters a week.  That surely isn’t all that I should be getting.

I see in the paper that some authority says that the servicemen are going to be awful hard to feed after they get home because of the good food they are getting now.  I think at any time anyone makes a crack like that they should have to eat our chow for about a month.  That way they would be sure to get a few bad ones and would change their minds in a hurry.  Most of the time it is fair, but, when it is bad it is awful.

I haven’t had a paper for quite a while now, and, the paper here doesn’t print our football scores for some reason, so don’t know how we are making out.  The last paper I had was September 24th.  When you get this I want you to stop the paper because I never have gotten half of them, if that many.  That’s all for now.

                                                                                            Love,

                                                                                            Tom
