Dear Mom and Pop:
I’m sorry I
haven’t written for a while but I waited till I got a new pen at the Canteen because
I broke the point on the one I had. Dad is right about the date for visitor, it
is the 16th of Sept. If Uncle Ken can come down then it won’t be any
trouble for you to come down. Our company got there picture taken today in our
dress blues, so I guess I’ll have it by the time you come down. My pictures
will be done next Monday so I’ll send them home as soon as I can.
Boy I
really have a lot of letters to answer so I’m going to write as many as I can
before I go on watch. Dick Scheel wrote me another
long letter (13) pages. All the fellows seem to answer pretty regularly. I also
just got a letter from Bob Fost. He says he wishes I
could go down the shore with him, Ray, Bill Dael, and
Dale Walker but I guess I’ll see enough of the Ocean. I got a letter from Ginnie and Hartmens’ in the Army.
I guess I told you that already. I only have four more weeks to go and I’m not
too disappointed either. We have a pretty good time here though. In our
physical training hour we play volly ball, and
football. Well I’ll have to close now so I can go on watch pretty soon.
All
my love,
Alfred
P.S. Don’t forget my package.
