Dear Mom and Pop,

I received your letter this afternoon while we were in [the] chow hall, so I just started to answer it as soon as I got back. I received the box of cakes. I’m sitting here right now eating them.

I wish you’d do me a favor when you come down Sunday. Please bring along about twenty dollars of my money and also bring that brown bag that I used when I left. Also bring me a small bottle of “Absorbine Jr.”  because I thin k I’m getting a little athlete’s foot, practically all the fellows do.

I’ve already sent the pass home, so all you have to do is hop in the car and drive down. Make sure you get here in plenty of time so you won’t be in a big rush and hurry.

I got my pictures today. They’re alright, but they’re not very good photographs. I [will] give them to you when you come down.

Well I guess I’ll close now and take a shower and hit the sack because I’m really tired. We have to get up at 3:45 A.M. and wash in the chow hall till about 7:00 or 7:30.

            Love and kisses,

Alfred
