Dear Mom and Pop:

I just dropped over to the library this afternoon and thought I would write a few lines to you.

Well tomorrows the day! We were mustered for draft today, and leave in the morning at 8:00. I guess you know by now that I’m headed for the Pacific or somewhere out there. A lot of the fellows in the class will be able to make it home for a few days, but us fellows who live back East will just have to wait a little while longer before we get home again. I think Ill spend a few days in Hollywood and a few days in Frisco before reporting in. Here’s a good one. The last night we’re here I have a guard duty tonight from 8 o’ clock to twelve o’ clock. I’m really going to feel good in the morning. I wouldn’t care how tired I was, I think I could run off this I’m so sick of it. There’s talk that we’re going to China but nobody will know until we get up to Frisco. Well I think I’ll close these few lines. Now don’t worry I’ll write again as soon as I can.

All my love,

Alfred
