Dear Mom + Pop:

Well here I am sitting here doing nothing for the present so I’m taking this chance to write a few lines.

I still haven’t decided whether to come home this weekend or not. I have an idea that I probably will. But if I don’t, don’t feel bad about it. I think Junie could have a fairly good time by himself. I think he knows his way around pretty good.

Well it is really cold down here. Boy when I got off that train Sunday night I almost froze. Our barracks are right on the Potomac River and maybe they wind doesn’t whip through there. Well I’m going to knock off these few lines for now. Take care of yourselves.

All my love, Alfred
