Dear Mom and Pop:

I suppose I should have written to you before this, but I guess you knew that I probably wouldn’t be home this weekend anyway.

I don’t have much news for you except that I went to Susie’s wedding Saturday night. I wasn’t invited to the reception, because she just had a small one with all her close friends.

I got a letter and a birthday card from Gene today. I opened the card and he had stuck a five spot in there big as life. He sure doesn’t miss a trick.

This weekend I have the duty so I won’t be able to be home, but the chances are that I’ll be home the following weekend if finances permit.

We’re supposed to get paid this Friday, I think, and I sure do hope so.

I hope by now that you are feeling much better, and hope that trouble with your torn nerve is pretty well healed.

Went down to the AAA this morning to see about driving lessons, and they told me that I would have to join the AAA first for 15 dollars, and then I would take a period of 8 lessons for 32 more dollars. To that I just said thanks and walked out. That’s pretty high to drive an automobile, even a “47” Pontiac at that. I guess I’ll just have to bide my time and take things as they come.

Well its about 6:30 in the evening here, and I’m just sitting here hoping that no work comes in for me to do.

Take care of yourselves now, see you soon.

All my love,

    Alfred
