Dear Mom + Pop
Just a few lines to let you know that I won’t be home this weekend. I have a watch in the barracks Friday night so it wouldn’t be worthwhile just for Saturday and Sunday.
Gene came down Friday and left Sunday. I took him to a pretty good dance Saturday night that two buddies of mine told me about and had a pretty good time.
Just heard the president’s speech, but it didn’t sound too spectacular to me. We’ll all keep fooling around and it won’t be so good. Every bad in this outfit is getting all set. I myself don’t think well have another war for about 10 years.
Well I guess I’d better get back to work.
See you soon
All my love
Alfred
