Dear Mom and Pop:

I’m sorry that I haven’t written to you before this. I don’t have an excuse either so I thought I’d better write since I have a little time.

Wee been kind of busy here the last few days. Last weekend the other yeoman and I worked on Saturday to get a rush job and we rate a day off for that but the skipper won’t let me take off on Friday, because he says were going to have al lot of work.

The next time I’d be home will be the weekend of the 2nd of October, and then the next time will be when I’m discharged. From now on till I’m discharged I’ll probably start sending home some think so you won’t have to worry what’s inside. Of course you can open them up if you want to. But just throw it someplace and I can sort it when I get home. Well its only 58 more days from now before I start walking. I’ll have about 5 years and 7 mos. Schooling coming to me, according to the way I figure it. I’ll have to take advantage of that too.

Well I hope by now Mom, that you are feeling pretty well. Since the weathers getting a little cooler it aught to make a difference.

I busted my ankle the other day but the swelling has gone down now. It acts up when I stand on it too long but I guess it will be that way for a while, just like my arm did when I was in school.
Well take care of yourselves now.

            See you soon.

                        All my love,

                                    Alfred
