Dear Mom + Pap:

Work is pretty slow so far today so I thought I’d take the time to write a few lines.

I won’t be home this weekend but I’ll be home the weekend of the 9^th of Oct. I put in for 5 days leave starting the 8^th till the 14^th. The reason I took the leave is because I have too many days leave on the books and I might lose it if I don’t take it. You see they only pay for leave up to 60 days all now that you either take or lose.

Well it won’t be long now. Just about 45 days. I’ve got some of my things that I won’t use all packed up to send home so it won’t be too much trouble by the time I get out.

Well I hope everything is alright at home and you’re both feeling alright. I’m certainly glad to see the cool weather coming on. I always feel 100% better. In the hot weather I don’t feel like doing anything.

I guess I’d better close now. See you in about two weeks.
