Dear Mother,

Just a line to let you know that I’m still ok and hope you’re all fine at home. I haven’t heard from you in a couple of days so I know you must be moving. Well ma I’m getting my furlough this week; it’s starting the 6th so I should be up your way around Friday or Saturday it all depends on how the trains run. The excitement down here is still dead and the work is still the same, all we do now is hike and go on problems and sleep out at night, so its going to seem good to get a furlough.

We’ve been getting quite a bit of rain here lately and by the way Rita talks about your getting a lot of it up your way. I hope we have good weather for my furlough for a change huh dear, remember how it has been on my last furlough; if it wasn’t snow it was rain and mud.

Oh yes I went to the dentist last week and had two teeth out. I had one in back and one fourth from the front. My wisdom tooth I didn’t know was bad but my other one was just like the one I had out in the front the one that King pulled. It was a filled tooth and it swelled up like a balloon but its ok now, but I thought he was going to pull my head off did they come out hard. Lord my teeth are just like horse teeth and what roots. The one that was swollen the dope didn’t take and it was just like not having anything but I lived through it. Well ma dear must close for now and I’ll be seeing you the end of this week ok. So don’t worry I’ll take good care of myself on the trip. Bye bye for now.

                        xxxx                 Love to all                    xxxx
