Dear Mother,
Arrived
in camp safe and on time and boy was it hard to get started back to work. I had
a very nice trip but from Washington
on was it a hot and tiresome ride. One good thing, I had a seat all the time so
that made it a lot easier and there were a lot of people standing up. Boy the
training now is a lot tougher now then it was when I came all they do now is
run hike and crawl, it’s all to make us tough. But I’m in charge of
quarters tonight and tomorrow so I’ll have it fairly easy thank goodness.
Today we were issued a lot of new clothing and you know what that means. Oh
yes, I’m not going to make Sgt. they already made another corporal while
I was on my furlough just like I told you I thought they would. Oh well, I like
the way the army does things and maybe its all for the best, but I don’t
like getting a ride and I told them so, lord that’s being to frank. Lord
it makes me down mad but there’s always a day a coming when I won’t
have to take it. Anyway I had a swell time on my furlough and surely hated to
leave but it won’t be long that I’ll be home for good and
that’s all I’m living for now believe me. Well ma must be closing
for tonight and I’m fine and hoping your all in the best of health. Bye bye.
XXXX Love
to all,
XXXX Leslie
