My Darling Mother:
I received your swell letter two days ago and I’m just getting around to answer it shame on me huh ma. I’m glad to hear that everything is just fine up your way and as for me I’m just in the pink.
As for the excitement down here its still the very same and that includes our training also. After hours I either go swimming or to the movies and that’s about all, I haven’t been out of camp since my furlough so you see I’m a good little boy. Take after my mother huh ma. Boy you’re surely having hot weather up your way, you’re getting our weather now, it been hot and quite a bit of rain and what thunder storms oh boy. No Rita doesn’t go home much lately she has been working steady and a lot of over time so I guess she busy, but I hear from her every day so that’s a big help to me. She has a birthday next month the14th so I’ll have to give her something I don’t know what. I’ll go to town and try to find her something. You said it that the people are awful and it’s all the married ones that act up. When I think of it I’m glad I’m not married but as it is now Rita been alright and that’s a lot to say nowadays about a girl and not to be married to her huh ma. A guy lucky nowadays to have a good girl, lord you should hear the guys talk about how their girl friends act. Oh well I guess that’s life and that’s the way some people like to live it but not me, you see I had a good upbringing thank God.
Well ma must be signing off for tonight] tomorrow is Saturday and inspection day and boy what a busy day. So it’s just bye bye for tonight.
XXXX Love to all
XXXX Leslie
P.S. Have you received any war bonds yet from me? You should before long for I’m taking one out a month. Not bad for me huh ma.
Love
Leslie
