Dearest Mother:

It’s Sunday and it’s a rainy day and it’s surely quiet and lonesome around camp here.  As for excitement it’s still as dead as ever although we have plenty to do but I guess that’s to be expected.  I received a letter from Fred yesterday he told me that Ednah was sick again and that that she might have to go to the hospital. Boy Fred sure has been having bad luck since he been married and with the bills boy I’d go nuts.  He was telling me that Freddie more than talks now, I sure would like to see him, lord he’ll be grown up when I get out of the army.  Oh well it won’t be long now the war is going on as well as to be expected and now for awhile it’s going to be a standstill but we can never tell it may be altogether different, at least I hope so huh ma.  How is everybody? Fine I hope and as for me I’m just fine and taking good care of myself so ma you don’t have to worry.  By the way how are you feeling now? How’s your leg? You don’t say anything about yourself and I don’t know so let me know! SEE!!!!! Well I haven’t much to say, oh yes did you receive my money order and was I asking for too much?

Well must close for today for I’ve got a few more letters to write so until next time it’s just bye-bye for now to my sweet mother:
